Support for Parents

Emotional reassurance, lived experiences, and coping tools

This journey isn’t just about your child. It’s about you, too.

You might feel relief, guilt, confusion, or grief. You might be running on fumes, wondering if you’re doing it right. You are not alone.

Here’s what helps:

  • Connect with other parents: Online forums, support groups, or even a WhatsApp chat with other SEND parents can be a lifeline.
  • Lower the bar: Ditch the pressure to be the “perfect parent.” Focus on being present and regulated — not perfect.
  • Learn about co-regulation: When you’re calm, it helps your child feel calm. That starts with you having space to breathe.
  • Protect your own mental health: You’re no help to your child if you’re in pieces. Therapy, medication, rest — whatever helps, you deserve it.

You don’t have to be strong all the time. You just have to keep showing up. That’s more than enough.
